What types of training are on offer?
We offer training in the system of Muay Thai Sangha. This system consists of five elements; Spiritual teachings of the Buddha (Ether element), Muay Thai Empty Hand Combat (fire element), Krabi-Krabong Armed Combat (wind element), Wing Chun Fluid Combat(water element) and Muay Pam Grappling Combat (earth element).
Do I need to book training before I come?
No, but you can contact me, if you wish to discuss any training arrangements.
8000 baht per month.
What will I learn on each course and how will I learn it?
Muay Thai Sangha will increase your endurance, co-ordination, balance and flexibility and will also improve your timing.
The first element of Muay Thai Sangha - the Teachings of the Buddha will give you patience, awareness and relaxation.
The second element of Muay Thai Sangha - Muay Thai Empty Hand Combat teaches you counter-attack and defensive techniques at the long to medium combat ranges.
The third element of Muay Thai Sangha - Krabi-Krabong Armed Combat has eight different weapons, with corresponding footwork - you'll perform drills that will greatly improve your hand-eye co-ordination and give you a good understanding of how to attack from multiple angles.
The fourth element in the Muay Thai Sangha style is Wing Chun Fluid Combat. Practicing this element will increase your sensitivity and help you to flow while learning combat skills.
Muay Pam (Grappling Combat), the fifth and last element of Muay Thai Sangha, covers close range fighting, teaching you to overcome an aggressor either standing up or on the ground. You'll learn how to properly distribute your body weight and use effective technique to take the maximum advantage of your opponent.
When does training start and how long does it last for?
You can start training at the school at any time, though starting at the beginning of the month is better. Each class varies between one and a half and three hours in length.
Most students stay at the school between one and two months, but you can train for a year or longer if you wish to do so.
What do I need to bring with me?
You should bring your own mouthpiece, groin protector if you're male, chest protector if you're female (though like all equipment, this can be bought in Chiang Mai). The school has enough quality equipment for you to use if you don’t have your own.
Is the school any good? Where did you learn, who with, and when?
Yes, of course, I think the school is very good! I deliberately keep class sizes small so that I can personally ensure each student reaches a high-level in the Muay Thai Sangha system. Providing you put in the effort, I guarantee you will learn and improve 100%.
You can take a look at a short biography in the Teachers section, which will tell you a little bit about my background, but in essence, I have spent 22 years training and teaching a variety of Martial Arts including, Judo, Sport Muay Thai, Ancient Muay Thai, Krabi-Krabong, Wing Chun, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and "No Holds Barred - Valetudo".
How long has the school been established?
The school has been established in Chiang Mai, Thailand since May 2003. Note that Kruu Villalobos previously had a Muay Thai school in Atlanta, Georgia, USA for over two years until he moved permanently to Thailand.
What are the facilities like? Is this an environment in which I can learn easily?
Though small, my school is very well equipped. I have a weights area, plenty of space to skip, 10 heavy bags, an upper-cut bag, plenty of training equipment - gloves, pads, protective gear and of course a ring. The school is kept very clean and located in a quiet, peaceful part of Chiang Mai.
Most importantly, my school has a positive, friendly atmosphere that I'm sure you'll find well suited to helping you to learn quickly and enjoying your time at the school. We take your training very seriously as we are aware of the cost of a trip to Thailand and the limited time available to many people in modern society.
What time does the school open/close?
Open 0630, close 1830. Sunday's and Buddha Day closed.
What do I have to know before I come? How fit do I need to be?
You don't need to have any previous martial arts experience to attend the school, beginners are very welcome. Just make sure you come with a good heart, a positive attitude and an open mind.
Fitness is not a requirement to train, because your fitness and endurance will improve as you train.
When I finish the course, what kind of standard (or ability) will I have reached?
Each person is different, but better endurance, flexibility, balance, co-ordination, strength, power and a better understanding of Muay Thai Sangha. In addition, the meditation you do will help you to develop a better spiritual understanding of yourself.
As I've mentioned before, providing you put in the effort, I guarantee you will learn and improve 100%.
I have a disability, can I still come and train?
Having a disability doesn't’t necessarily mean you can’t train, please Contact me to discuss your unique circumstances.
I don’t speak English very well, can I still come and train?
Yes, I speak Thai, English, Spanish and a little French, but like all martial arts Muay Thai Sangha is a very visual activity so even if you cannot speak any of the above languages, you are more than welcome to come and train.
I don’t want to fight, can I still come and train?
Absolutely. Fighting is an option and not an obligation.

Where can I stay during my time at the school?
If you've never visited Chiang Mai before, relax. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of places to stay in Chiang Mai, catering for a very wide range of budgets and tastes.
Literally everywhere! Again, Chiang Mai caters for all budgets and tastes.
What kind of visa do I need for travel to Thailand?
As I'm sure you can imagine, it's impossible for me to keep track of Thailand's immigration rules and regulations. I would recommend you contact the Thai Embassy in your own country for advice before buying tickets or making travel arrangements.
Yes, as long as you have enough time to gain a good level of skills and endurance.
Have you trained any fighters before?
Yes. I have trained a World Champion, North American Champion, American Champion and many amateur champions. I have also trained many people to fight professionally on the Muay Thai circuit here in Thailand.
